Everyone moves in different ways, influenced by the individual day to day lives we lead. This can create tissue stress and overloading in certain areas of the body, in many cases developing the pain and stiffness you may experience on a daily basis.Â
However with Foundation Pilates, in Battersea, you will work to identify and remove many of the restrictions that inhibit our daily living, creating Movement Health allowing you to feel more supple and energised.
The key step for Foundation Pilates is to learn and understand how your body moves and identify the weak links. Foundation Pilates can be your first step into the amazing world of Pilates while you learn how you move. Or it can be a great transition from injury and pain as you work towards building your core foundation, such an important step in the recovery process. One often missed by many clients as part of their treatment pathway.

Firstly, you will have an assessment so our skilled Pilates Instructors, all with rehabilitation backgrounds, assess how you move building a plan to help develop your weaknesses into strengths and introducing you to the reformer with essential introduction exercises. Generally you will then complete three 1:1 sessions to get you ready to join a suitable class for your level. However it is your choice and you may wish to to continue with 1:1 training, keeping the personalised input into your sessions or joining a bespoke class (maximum 3 per class) and working in a group environment.
Whichever path you choose your body will thank you for starting the path to movement health.
Remember when you are ready you can progress into our Performance Pilates programmes.

Please Note: BLH host a Virtual Mat Pilates Classes each week run by our experienced team of instructors. Currently there is morning class available to help you improve your strength, flexibility and overall health and well being. Please email or call to find out more details about this session.
Foundation pilates services
DISCOVERY
If you are interested in trying Pilates or have heard about the benefits this is the place to start. You will be introduced to reformer (equipment based Pilates) and taught basic movements & patterns, as well as assessed so you can discover the best pathway for you in Pilates.
1:2:1
Individualised sessions with an instructor allowing them to develop the exact programme you need to maximise your benefits through Pilates. The programme will be tailored specifically to your requirements and goals and you will be able to progress at the best pace for you.
Introductory
Starter sessions designed to help you learn the basic patterns on reformer. This is as much for comfort and confidence using the equipment as it is for improvements in motion, flexibility and strength. Our classes are small (max 3 per class) so you recieve maximum focus from the instructor.
ELITE
We’ve put together a unique class progression to set new challenges for your body. We aim ot make sure you continue to progress your movement health to new levels, helping you improve energy, build your core and develop resilience. When ready you will be invited to the elite classes.
