Pain 2 Performance – The Journey of Henry Emmett
I have been working with Body Logic for a couple of seasons now. I am a hockey player currently playing my club hockey, The London Wayfarers Hockey Club, at national league level. Internationally I have represented Scotland U21 and more recently at Senior International level for Gibraltar, competing at the European Qualifiers against Scotland, Wales and Switzerland.
During my 2nd club season I suffered a back injury and ever since I’ve had reoccurring back pain and leg movement problems. As an athlete it can be one of the most frustrating experiences to be injured, especially if you are unable to find a long term solution that allows you to get back to the sport you love. Before going to Body Logic I was keen to know who they were and what exactly they would do for me. What they say on their website, is honestly, only just the tip of the iceberg.
Not only did they settle down the pain but they find out the source of the issue and explained why the problem was occurring and started to help improve the movement allowing me to be out of pain while allowing my body to be physically stronger by strengthen the weak areas and prevent the pain from reoccurring. The work they have and are continuing to do now is making me a better athlete. This has come through in my on-field performances and even off the pitch I’m confident that I can go and do the extra training in the gym and runs without fear my back injury will return.
All this lead to a great experience while away recently at the European Qualifiers, feeling confident that my body was ready and able to stand up to the challenge.
There’s still a long journey ahead for myself, with the focus now on building my foundation strength but I know that the small army of professionals I have (Paul, Travis, Andrew, Monique and Rianna) I will keep pushing me to reach my best in the sporting world.
